    We are seeking to recruit a full-time Procurement Manager to join a small executive team based in our new office, Newport, Co Tipperary, with flexible working conditions. This newly created role will define and develop the organisation’s procurement strategy, managing the procurement of common goods, materials and services, on behalf of our member practices. The role is a fixed term contract position with potential for contract extension and/or permanency.

    This role holder will temporarily work remotely in line with current government Covid-19 restriction, in addition to ongoing flexible working conditions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the procurement function taking into account price, quality of service, delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. 
    • Source suppliers of common goods, materials and services for the veterinary industry.
    • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts, service level agreements and terms and conditions on behalf of organisation.
    • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers.
    • Responsible for identifying and supporting cost management opportunities across the organisations.
    • Presentation of recommended suppliers for decision.
    • Map the processes of onboarding for each supplier, simplifying take-up by member practices.
    • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery goals.
    • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation.
    • Act as an interface between suppliers and practices on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
    • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships, maintaining excellent communications.
    • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier & member practice relationships.
    • Prepare reports and updates as and when required.
    • Compile and analyse data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.

    The Person:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in purchasing, sourcing, supply chain or similar role is highly desirable.
    • A relevant third level qualification is desirable.
    • Strong attention to detail and an ability to process, collate and review complex information.
    • Deep knowledge of purchasing with proven success in negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown.
    • Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together.
    • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and clear communicator with negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
    • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time.
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines, energetic and enthusiastic disposition.
    • Strong IT skills to include MS Office.  
    • Highly self-motivated and ability to work off own initiative.
    • Experience of working closely with suppliers; able to add value, reduce costs and input to business improvements.

    Job Type: 1-year fixed term contract

    Reporting to: General Manager, XLVets Ireland

    Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience.
